Teacher Exploration Program

The Teacher Exploration program serves as an alternative to Advanced Placement work for talented students interested in education.  Students completing a CMU approved teacher exploration program have the knowledge and maturity to be able to to move forward toward becoming a professional educator. Students who complete the program and are approved will receive EDU 107 credit towards their Teacher Education experience.

Criteria for Students to Receive CMU Credits
Students who have participated in such an approved program will be eligible for credit for EDU 107 (3 credits), and will be granted the 45 hours of classroom experience (if the CMU application process form has been used to document the hours).

To be eligible for the credits, students must meet the following criteria:

•Be accepted and enrolled as a student at CMU.

•Must have earned a grade of B or better in a CMU approved teacher exploration program.

•Must have completed the full two years in the approved teacher exploration program.

•Must submit a portfolio that may be used by the Teacher Exploration Program Review committee.

To find out if your school is an active participant in the Teacher Exploration Program please see your current high school advisor.  Any ISD/High School educators interested in participating in the Teacher Exploration Program should follow this Application Process
