Student Teaching

During the student teaching experience, ARC students are enrolled in EDU 508S, EDU 608B and EDU 687 for their student teaching internship. The primary resource for the student teacher and the cooperating teacher during the semester is the University Coordinator. If at any time, as a student teacher or cooperating teacher, you have any questions, concerns or need information, contact your assigned University Coordinator.

Prior to Student Teaching:

Students must meet the following requirements before being considered for student teaching:

  1. Complete all ARC classes with a 'C+' or better during Spring and Summer.
  2. Complete and submit the student teaching application no later than 4:30 pm EST on February, 2010. This date applies to ARC VII students and will be posted as soon as is it is available.
  3. Complete an Understanding of Policies form to be returned with your student teaching application.
  4. Complete a Legal Statement for Certification form to be returned with your student teaching application.

Students must complete the following requirements before the student teaching internship begins:

  1. Register and upload your resume with Career Services, 215 Bovee University Center, (989) 774-3068, www.careers.cmich.edu.
  2. Complete an interview with your assigned university coordinator
  3. Complete an interview with the supervising teacher at the location of placement.

After Completing Student Teaching

For successful complete of the Student Teaching internship you must:

  1. Complete and document the Standard First Aid/Adult-Child CPR certification process.
  2. Receive a “C+” or better in all student teaching courses.
