Orientation

ARC Candidates who have been offered admission to the 2010 ARC Cohort will receive detailed invitations to the Orientation.

DATE and LOCATION: The orientation will occur late in the Fall semester after notice of admission has been sent. Previous orientations have occurred on a Saturday in late November or early December on campus in Mount Pleasant. Exact date and location for the event will be announced by invitation or earlier to facilitate planning for the admitted ARC candidates.

ORIENTATION AGENDA:

  • Welcome and Informal Social Time
  • Introduction of ARC Faculty and Personnel
  • Structure of the ARC Program, including course registration, and other procedures
  • Student Teaching Information
  • Preparation of Identification Cards
  • Technical Standards
  • Professional Dispositions
  • Electronic Portfolios

Identification Cards: Each student will need two ID cards during the ARC program

Official CMU Student Identification Card: The CMU Student ID Office is open M-F from 8-5 on the main floor of the Bovee University Student Center. A student new to CMU or returning after a prolonged period of non-enrollment will need to arrange time to obtain the CMU Student Identification card. The initial ID card is free; a fee is charged for replacement. This ID will serve as the library card among other functions.

Teacher Education photo ID cards: Teacher Education Student photo ID card will be made for each ARC student attending the orientation session. The photo ID will identify the wearer as a CMU Teacher Education student. An attachment clip will be supplied. The ID card is free; a fee is charged for a replacement.

Many schools are now requiring all staff to wear photo identification for security purposes. To be in compliance, each CMU student must wear the photo ID when present in a school as a CMU teacher education student.
