Teacher Education & Professional Development

In order to be considered for admission to the ARC program January 2010, a student must meet the following criteria:

Completion of a pre-application conference with ARC Advisor, Virginia Kridler. This can be done by phone or in person to assess candidate's preparedness for the program and to answer procedural questions. Call 989-774-3309 with questions.

A completed bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university or college with a 2.70 GPA at graduation or in the most recently completed 45 credits. The degree must have been awarded by August, 2009.

A completed major and minor in subjects that CMU certifies for Secondary Education with a minimum 2.70 GPA in the major and minor. CMU will evaluate coursework submitted to determine remaining requirements, if any, to complete the qualifying major and minor.

Passing scores for the Michigan Basic Skills Test (Test #96). This commercial test is required by the State of Michigan for teacher education program candidates. The test is offered only in January, April, July, October, and November at designated test sites throughout Michigan. Registration is accepted at www.mttc.nesinc.com. October, 2009, is the latest test date acceptable for admission to the January, 2010, cohort.

Passing score on the candidate's major and minor MTTC subject area tests. The test must be completed no later than the November testing date prior to the student's admission. Please note that students completing a major and a minor will be required to take the test for the major only. The test for the minor is optional.
