International Field Experiences

Australia Experience Spring 2008

TEPD offers a number of exciting and rewarding international experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students.  We have
4 exceptional opportunities for students who wish to experience a different culture while completing the second 8 weeks of their student teaching experience.  Students may opt for London, England or Accra, Ghana in the fall or for Perth, Australia or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in the spring.

International student teaching experiences through TEPD operate under a "no refund" policy.  Fees paid by candidates are used to pre-pay costs for on-site supervision, housing, group excursions, and fees charged by local schools.  Since all of these fees are pre-paid at the beginning of the international student teaching experience, no refunds will be available in the event a candidate returns, or is sent home.

International Coordinators for the 8 week experiences are named approximately a year in advance.  TEPD faculty interested in serving as an international coordinator apply for the opportunity.  Determination of assignments is completed by the TEPD Coordinating Council based on the International Coordinator Policy.  A list of assigned coordinators is available by clicking here.

TEPD also offers a three week mid-tier experience in Mexico and a 10 day experience in Ireland.  The midtier experience is offered to students in their first or second semester of elementary cohorts during early May while the Ireland experience is designed mainly for graduate students enrolled in summer classes and is offered periodically.
