March 16, 2008 - The hotel where we stayed in Calente  was in the town center and across the road from the businesses that fronted the beach.  It was clean and everything was included in the cost including meals and beverages.  Last evening there was entertainment and afterward our students proved to be very popular dance partners.

We checked out this morning about 10am and drove to the northern shore of the Samana peninsula to Las Teranias where we had a late lunch and spent a couple of hours on the beach.  We then crossed the peninsula to the south to reach the town of Samana.  I have included a couple pictures of the views we experienced and of the hotels where we stayed.

This is the view  looking to the north from the Samana peninsula. The second picture  shows the view to the south of the Samana peninsula.  The roads leading to the heights are winding and required us to drop to low gear to make the hills.

This a picture of what we can see from our hotel window.  The hotel sits on a hill overlooking Samana
Bay and has a unique elevator that takes guests from the hotel down to the beach.
