Midtier Experiences

All students admitted to CMU's Teacher Education Program complete a midtier experience. Students are assigned to either an elementary or secondary classroom for 30 hours of experience during the semester of their midtier class. The Midtier Program is coordinated by Renee Papelian.

All students seeking elementary certification complete their midtier requirement through enrollment in and completion of EDU 361. When students are admitted to teacher education, they sign up for EDU 361 through the Cohort Program.

All students seeking secondary certification complete their midtier requirement through the departments in which they sign their majors. Most departments coordinate their midtier experiences through Renee Papelian. Secondary students should contact Renee or their major department for further information.

Please see the Center for Student Services website for further information and all midtier forms.

TEPD also offers Summer midtier experiences in Oaxaca, Mexico and London, England. Students interested in studying abroad should contact the Office of International Education as soon as possible or stop by EHS 421 for more information.

Students who are interested in completing their midtier in Oaxaca, Mexico can view a PowerPoint presentation of the Summer 2008 experience.
